Macclesfield Half Marathon

Postby jsimpson on Sun Sep 27, 2009 2:01 pm

Congratulations to Cheryl who completed this extremely challenging course in 1;41;04. Cheryl looked really strong at the end and I am sure a sub-40 10k time on a flatter course is not far away.(Neil will be available to advise on the flatter courses)

Some steep hills at 5 and 11 slowed the pace substantially....the rest was undulating.

Ivor and myself were 39th with 1;27;47. (We mistakenly believed it was the Cheshire team pursuit championship)

Nice bright t-shirt too.... so all in all a grand day out.

Well done all, great times. Great time Cheryl, you'd get sub 1.40 at Congleton I reckon. James, were you and Ivor joined at the hip or doing a 3 legged race. Nice one :D

Thanks to James and Ivor for hanging around to cheer me on to the finish. It was nice to see a couple of familiar faces after feeling quite lonely doing the race on my own! However, I met a chap from Nantwich and may have recruited him to the club - multi- tasking eh? Think I should have researched a bit more where to do my 1st half as it was tough to say the least but thoroughly enjoyed it and the scenery is lovely. I will be wearing my neon orange t-shirt on Tuesday night but am pleased that daylight will be fading or I may have had to ask you all to bring your shades!! Sounds like you all had a good 'end of summer' run too so a good day has been had by all.

See you Tuesday

Cheryl

Well done to all who ran at Macc today.

Cherry, great performance in your first half, 3rd in your age cat. Two races in 2 weeks, I think you might be getting the bug :-)

I am annoyed I am coming up on the results as 'unattached' as I queued up before the race to specifically ask them to attach me to SCH and stood and watched as they typed it into the laptop. Sorry! I wore my new vest with pride, honest.

James and Ivor, did you hold hands as you crossed the line, like the maiden victors in the London Marathon? I think it is a noble and beautiful thing.

Nick, Charlie, I think jealousy can be a terrible thing to control, there's no room for a three/four some. X

Just seen the last pic of James and Ivor on the track towards the finish. Looks like you worked hard lads, but you really should have gone to the loo before you started James. Karen was a tad concerned you may have a problem

I think she was 3rd V35, great effort for someone in her 1st half marathon.
